July 18, 2009 (by Li Sam) Gothenburg
Bookfair—exhibitions stand A02:52
In September 24-27, 2009, I will attend
and exhibit my writing during the whole event. As you probably know by now, my main writing language is American English,
but don’t let that stop you from reading if English
is not your native language. My English is not that difficult to understand. At the exhibition, I will also present
a small 20-minute seminar (in Swedish) on the subject “Our true selves” and I will talk about Gender Identity
among other things. See li-sam.com/events for further information.
June 27, 2009 (by
Li Sam) Li Sam newspaper appearance: Forced to divorce
This is to fill you in on what has happened since
last May 20th regarding me trying to get registered as a woman here in Sweden.
On June 14 I appeared in a full-page article in one
of Sweden’s major country-wide newspapers
SvD with my picture and all, where the reporter presented my issue in a good way.
On June 21 I appeared in another full-page debate
article in another of Sweden’s major
country-wide newspapers Expressen. This time I was invited to write the article, which I did, and, after it was edited
to fit the paper format by a reporter, the article turned out very much to my liking.

May 20, 2009 (by
Li Sam) Li Sam was refused registration as female by Swedish authorities On
the first of May this year Sweden enacted a new law making it possible for same-sex couples to marry (before, same-sex couples
could enter into something called a partnership). Prior to this new law, the
authorities didn’t allow me to register as a woman because I was married to Marianne as a man. So now, I thought, finally
I can have my gender legally changed to female with this new law in force, and I can stay married. This however turned out
not to be the case.

like.
January 30, 2009 (by

at the moment how this will turn out. Please feel free

January 29, 2009 (by
Li Sam) Webshop opened at TransPonder Media International This is a big thing for me and I hope for you too. Now you can start buying my book
Behind Waves online at shop.trans-ponder.com. And at www.trans-ponder.com, you will find me in their forum, at Li Sam’s Place and Spouse Support. You are very welcome to join me and many
other forum members there. I’m particularly happy about TransPonder’s initiative to initiate Spouse Support, as
I think we need to attend to these kinds of issues much more, and I really hope that the spouses of transgender people, world
wide, will take advantage of this opportunity and comment here. My wife Marianne and I will be present, and your voice needs
to be heard as I know that spouses are suffering too.

January 10, 2009 (by
Li Sam) Woman of the Year & the VABook festival
The Swedish
family magazine Allers on 31 July 2008 featured an article about me, and now in the first magazine of this new year
the editorial staff had chosen me and nine other women as “Women of the Year 2008.”
I was very surprised and flattered about this, and it’s a huge recognition and beyond my wildest dreams.
Further
I’m going to have yet another book table set up at the VABook! festival in Charlottesville,
Virginia www.vabook.org on Saturday 21 March. It will be the first time for me showing up at an event like this in the US. I have two goals with this appearance. First, of course, is to present my writing
and the book Behind Waves. Second is to meet people and have a chat. So if you are close by, you are very welcome to
come and see me.
When I’m
in Charlottesville, I may also have time to appear at other
events arranged by you, some time during Thursday 19 to Friday 20. If you have an event in mind and you would like me to speak,
feel free to contact me. Tell me a little about the event, how many people you are expecting and about the location and premises,
and I will get back to you.
